UI and Unsoed build ASEAN Literacy Corner in Purwokerto

Universitas Indonesia and Universitas Jenderal Soedirman are running an ASEAN literacy program for elementary and secondary students in Purwokerto, Central Java, while inaugurating an ASEAN Literacy Corner as a new learning space. The June 8-11, 2026 program involved about 350 students from SMAN 2 Purwokerto, SMA IT Al Irsyad, SMK Telkom Purwokerto, SMPN 1 Karanglewas, and SD IT Al Irsyad. The material covered ASEAN history, structure and role, along with educational games on member countries, regional symbols, culture and contemporary Southeast Asian issues. The program also involves lecturers, UI-Unsoed students and Unsoed international students from among others Thailand, Vietnam, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Botswana and Tanzania.
