Uefa kept alive a threat to boycott Fifa competitions, including the World Cup, saying Gianni Infantino's retreat from a plan to sell stakes in major tournaments did not resolve its concerns. Europe's governing body said the proposal had been withdrawn, but Fifa had not guaranteed that similar attempts would not return and Uefa still had no confidence in Infantino's leadership. The pressure widened as the English FA withdrew support for Infantino, Fifpro condemned his conduct and Conmebol criticized unilateral action. The standoff now puts the Under-20 Women's World Cup, set to open in Poland on Sept. 5, at risk of becoming the first tournament affected by a Uefa-led boycott.
