U.S. intercepts Iranian missiles aimed at forces in Jordan

What's new: Iran's Revolutionary Guards said they targeted a U.S. air base and CENTCOM center in Jordan, ending a short lull in fighting.

The U.S. military intercepted multiple Iranian ballistic missiles fired Tuesday toward American forces in the Middle East, with Iran later identifying a U.S. air base and a U.S. Central Command site in Jordan as targets. U.S. Central Command said all of the missiles were shot down. The attack broke several days of relative calm after weeks of escalation tied to the Strait of Hormuz. It came as Saudi Arabia said it destroyed drones aimed at petroleum facilities in its eastern region and blamed Iran-backed militias in Iraq. The Houthis in Yemen also claimed they forced the Saudi oil tanker NCC Ghazal to turn back, adding pressure on regional shipping routes and energy infrastructure.
