Trump weighs ousting US envoy to Greece after ethics scrutiny

What's new: The threat follows reports that Kimberly Guilfoyle sought a $100,000 payment and took luxury travel tied to Greek businessmen.

President Donald Trump said Monday he is considering removing Kimberly Guilfoyle as U.S. ambassador to Greece after a string of reports about her finances, travel and ties to Greek business figures. At the White House, Trump said his administration was reviewing her status and that officials were "not happy." The scrutiny intensified after The Wall Street Journal reported Guilfoyle asked Trump donor Eric Deters in July 2025 to cover a $100,000 American Express bill before her Senate confirmation hearing. The paper also described private-jet and luxury travel involving Aktor Group-linked executive Alexandros Exarchou and shipping tycoon Nikolas Tsakos. Guilfoyle's lawyers denied wrongdoing and said her travel followed State Department guidance.
