Trump scraps Kansas and Iowa rallies, shifts to phone events
What's next: The president is still set to campaign in Florida as Republicans fight to hold narrow House and Senate majorities on Nov. 3.
President Donald Trump canceled planned campaign rallies in Kansas and Iowa this weekend and will instead call into events in at least 19 states before Election Day. The scrapped stops were scheduled for Oct. 31 in Salina, Kansas, and Nov. 1 in Dubuque, Iowa, as Republicans try to protect competitive races, including Sen. Roger Marshall's contest in Kansas and several House races in Iowa. Trump told reporters he did not feel he needed to go to Kansas and said Marshall was "doing very well." Since Oct. 1, Trump has held 25 rallies in 19 states. He is still expected to travel to Florida on Oct. 30 after a month of near-daily appearances that he has acknowledged strained his voice.
