Trump campaigns with Wisconsin farmers ahead of midterms

Why it matters: The stop was Trump's first Wisconsin visit of his second term as Republicans defend a swing-state House district.

President Donald Trump traveled to Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, on Friday for a roundtable and rally with farmers as he stepped up campaigning ahead of the midterm elections. Speaking in a barn, Trump cast Republicans as farmers' best option, attacked Democratic policies and predicted the war in Iran would end soon and gas prices would fall. The visit was his first to Wisconsin since returning to office and came days after Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. toured a dairy farm in the district held by Republican Rep. Derrick Van Orden. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, a Wisconsin Democrat, argued the visit showed Republicans were worried about their standing with rural voters.
