Trump presses Reflecting Pool vandalism claim with witness account

President Donald Trump renewed his push over the dropped Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool vandalism case, posting part of a court filing that described a National Park Service worker’s account of former Olympian David Hearn at the site. The filing said an employee saw Hearn kneel into the water and “violently” rip and tug at the pool’s blue coating while workers were cleaning it, then keep pulling after being told to stop. Trump argued the account strengthens his claim that at least some of the damage was deliberate, even as he acknowledged “some contractor error” during work rushed ahead of July 4. Federal prosecutors moved earlier this month to dismiss a felony charge against Hearn.
