Trump drew boos at NBA Finals Game 3 at Madison Square Garden

What's new: The visit prompted a heavy security perimeter, disrupted access around the arena and led to the cancellation of an outdoor watch party.

President Donald Trump was loudly booed at Madison Square Garden before Game 3 of the NBA Finals, becoming the first sitting U.S. president to attend the championship series. The reaction came during the national anthem when arena video boards showed Trump saluting. Chants of “U-S-A!” were heard earlier, and cheers returned when Knicks players appeared on screen. Trump watched from Knicks owner James Dolan’s suite with granddaughter Kai, adviser Boris Epshteyn and Cabinet members Lee Zeldin, Sean Duffy and Doug Burgum. He also spoke during the game with NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. The visit brought a large security operation by the New York Police Department and U.S. Secret Service, forcing ticket checkpoints, magnetometer screening and street restrictions around the arena.
