Trump debuts Qatari jet as new Air Force One, plans NATO trip

What's next: Trump said he will use the aircraft for next month's NATO summit in Ankara as Boeing's delayed replacements remain due in 2028.

President Donald Trump on Friday introduced a converted Boeing 747 from Qatar as the new Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, ending planned presidential travel on the older aircraft. Trump said he will take the plane to next month's NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, and that it will also make a flyover during July 4 celebrations. The administration accepted the formerly Qatari-owned jet last year as a temporary presidential aircraft while two replacement planes ordered from Boeing remain delayed until 2028. The gift has drawn ethics and legal questions because it came from a foreign government, though the Air Force said any aircraft used as Air Force One must meet strict security requirements and was modified under a disciplined engineering process.
