President Donald Trump lashed out at Norway after the Nobel Peace Prize went to Navi Pillay, a former International Criminal Court judge who led a UN report concluding that Israel committed genocide in Gaza. Speaking at a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, on Oct. 9, Trump called Pillay a “mystery person” and said the decision left an “indelible stain” on Norway, which hosts the Nobel committee. Trump has repeatedly complained during his presidency about not receiving the prize. At the rally, he again argued that he had helped defuse conflicts involving North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, and China and Taiwan, but he offered no evidence for those claims.
