Trump Threatens Iran Infrastructure Strikes as Hormuz Spreads

U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran's bridges and power plants if ships in the Strait of Hormuz are attacked again. In separate remarks on 22-23 July, Trump also said he was close to deciding on a “massive strike” against Tehran after Iran hit U.S. sites in Gulf countries. The escalation follows clashes that began with Iran's attack on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this month, which Washington said violated a June memorandum of understanding. Iranian media reported that several bridges and tunnels in coastal areas were damaged in U.S. strikes. Iran then retaliated by targeting U.S. military facilities in the Middle East and warned that any attack on its civilian infrastructure would be answered with strikes on Arab countries' energy infrastructure.
