Treasury blocks NYT, WSJ and Bloomberg reporters from G20 meeting

The Treasury Department denied credentials to individual reporters from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News for this week's G20 finance meeting in Asheville, North Carolina. The blocked reporters include Times economic policy reporter Alan Rappeport and Journal economics reporter Matt Grossman. Treasury said nearly 300 journalists from about a dozen countries would attend and that policymakers would remain broadly accessible. One Times reporter, Berlin bureau chief Jim Tankersley, received a credential. The Times called the move an effort to evade scrutiny. The decision adds to a broader pattern of Trump administration limits on media access after a Pentagon press policy in 2025 prompted protests and a lawsuit.
