Tottenham lose 0-2 to Newcastle, sink to bottom of table
Tottenham have now lost twice without scoring, despite taking 17 shots in this home match.
Tottenham lost 0-2 to Newcastle United at home and ended the first two weeks of the Premier League season at the foot of the table. Anthony Elanga and Yoane Wissa scored within a 10-minute spell in the second half, while Spurs failed to convert 17 attempts, six of them on target. The defeat was Tottenham's second straight after last week's 0-3 loss to Brentford. BBC said the London club have won only three home league matches in their last 23 games. After the match, the Spurs coach said the team were not panicking, but needed to improve defensively and build connections between players after a poor start to the season despite summer spending topping 300 million poundsterling.
