A tornado tore through the Aude department in southern France on Aug. 24, injuring 41 people and damaging about 300 homes, with roofs ripped off in the village of Pomas. Fifteen injured people were taken to Carcassonne hospital, and more than 120 emergency workers were deployed as crews continued searching for two people reported missing into the evening.
