TNI sends 2 tons of aid to 3 drought-hit districts in Puncak
Residents in Agandugume, Oneri and Lambewi have faced food shortages since June 2026 as extreme weather cut harvests.
Koops TNI Habema distributed two tons of logistical aid to three districts in Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah, hit by drought and a food crisis. The aid was delivered on Saturday, Aug. 1, to Agandugume, Oneri and Lambewi districts. According to Brigjen TNI Stefie Jantje Nuhujanan, commander of the Koops TNI Habema territorial task force, the distribution took place amid rapidly changing mountain weather, low temperatures and steep routes that could only be crossed on foot. Because of limited landing sites, the supplies were offloaded dozens of kilometers from the target villages and then carried across slopes, valleys, rivers and slippery trails. The aid packages contained rice, instant noodles, sugar, milk for infants and children, and medicine. Lambewi district head Lanius Wenda said residents in the three districts have faced food shortages since June 2026 as harvests declined and stocks dwindled.
