TNI chief, police chief meet in DPR ahead of Aug. 17

The closed-door meeting also addressed hoax claims about possible unrest in Jakarta and security preparations for the MPR annual session.

TNI Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended a closed-door coordination meeting at the Parliamentary Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (10/8) to discuss security ahead of the 81st anniversary of Indonesia's independence on Aug. 17. The meeting was led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad and was attended by State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, leaders of the DPR's Commission I and III, and the service chiefs. According to participants, the discussion covered security preparations for the independence commemoration and other state events in August, including the MPR annual session. The meeting came as social media renewed claims about possible mass protests and unrest in Jakarta.
