Tito urges DKPP to strengthen election ethics prevention

He said success should be judged by fewer election officials ending up in cases, not by the number of rulings.

Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian asked the Dewan Kehormatan Penyelenggara Pemilu to strengthen prevention of ethical violations ahead of the next election stages. At DKPP's 14th anniversary in Jakarta on Friday, Tito said the ethics body's success should not be measured by how many cases it decides, but by how few election organizers violate the rules and face legal trouble. He also urged DKPP to expand education for election officials in the regions and strengthen the capacity of law enforcement so potential violations can be curbed early. In addition, he said support for facilities and infrastructure should be prepared so DKPP can carry out its duties optimally. The event was also attended by DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito, Bawaslu Chairman Rahmat Bagja, and KPU Chairman Mochammad Afifuddin.
