Tito, BPS sign joint circular to back 2026 Economic Census

The guidance is meant to help regions produce more accurate economic data for national and local policymaking.

Home Affairs Minister Muhammad Tito Karnavian and Statistics Indonesia head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti signed a Joint Circular at the Sasana Bhakti Praja building, the Home Affairs Ministry in Jakarta, on Monday (15/6), to strengthen regional government support for the 2026 Economic Census. Tito asked governors, regents and mayors to immediately coordinate with BPS offices in their areas so the census can run smoothly. He said President Prabowo Subianto has tasked BPS with compiling a comprehensive picture of public economic conditions, which will be used as a basis for economic policy. Tito also said the census results will help local governments assess conditions in their regions, including opening access to data on special economic zones that have so far not been fully covered. He warned that weak regional support could leave the data less accurate.
