Thailand's Bajrakitiyabha dies at 47
The palace is preparing a royal funeral with the highest honors at the Grand Palace in Bangkok.
Thailand's Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol died at 47 after more than three years in hospital. The Thai Royal Household Bureau said the eldest daughter of King Maha Vajiralongkorn died peacefully on Thursday night, June 11, after a worsening abdominal infection.
Bajrakitiyabha, known as Princess Bha, had been hospitalized since December 2022 after collapsing and losing consciousness while training dogs. The palace earlier said she had developed a digestive infection from colitis, and some reports also cited heart problems.
Before her illness, she was active in public duties, once held a post at the United Nations and campaigned for better treatment of women in prisons. Her body is scheduled to lie in state at Phiman Rattaya Throne Hall in the Grand Palace complex.
