Terminal LPG Tanjung Sekong becomes first to earn green certificate
The Cilegon facility supplies 35%-40% of national LPG demand and is set to use green hydrogen from Ulubelu.
PT Pertamina (Persero)'s Terminal LPG Tanjung Sekong received a 2-star Green Terminal Label Certification from Bureau Veritas, making it the first LPG terminal in Indonesia and the world to receive the designation. The facility, operated by PT Pertamina Energy Terminal, a subsidiary of PT Pertamina International Shipping, is located in Cilegon, Banten. Pertamina said the achievement matters because green terminal standards are applied to high-risk facilities for LPG storage and handling, while previous recipients of similar certifications were generally public ports or container terminals. The terminal has a capacity of 98 ribu MT or 196 ribu CBM, equivalent to 35-40 persen of national LPG needs. Pertamina is also preparing to use solar energy and green hydrogen from Ulubelu, Lampung, with a production target of around 100 kilogram per day.
