Switzerland beat Colombia 4-3 on penalties to reach World Cup last eight
What's next: Switzerland will play Argentina in Kansas City after advancing to its first World Cup quarter-final since 1954.
Switzerland moved into the World Cup quarter-finals after beating Colombia 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw over 120 minutes at BC Place in Vancouver. Gregor Kobel made a key save from Cucho Hernández in the shootout, and Ruben Vargas converted the decisive penalty as Colombia went out after two missed kicks. The match was largely cagey and short on clear finishing, though Colombia came closest late when Jaminton Campaz fired over from close range in the 116th minute. Switzerland reached the last eight for the first time since 1954 and now face Lionel Messi's Argentina in Kansas City.
