Suspected chicken thief beaten to death by residents in Tabanan
PDIP is preparing aid for the victim's family, while Polda Bali continues to probe the alleged theft and assault.
A man identified as KD died after being allegedly beaten by residents in Batunya village, Baturiti district, Tabanan regency, Bali, early Friday, July 24, at around 01:30 WITA. Residents were said to have caught KD when he allegedly tried to take away a chicken, then the crowd attacked him until he died at the scene. Police arrived at around 02:00 WITA, secured the scene, and seized evidence including a chicken, a machete allegedly belonging to KD, a bag containing pliers, a slingshot, stones, cash, and a motorcycle burned by the crowd. Polda Bali is still investigating the cause of death, the alleged livestock theft, and the alleged mob assault. PDIP Secretary-General Hasto Kristiyanto said the party will follow up on aid for the victim.
