Super Garuda Shield 2026 involves 4,743 personnel from 21 countries

The exercise runs through Sept. 11 and adds cyber and disaster-response drills in North Kalimantan.

TNI began the Super Garuda Shield 2026 joint exercise on Monday (31/8), involving 4,743 personnel from 21 countries. The annual exercise runs through Sept. 11 in Bandung, Jakarta, Lampung, Baturaja in South Sumatra, and Nunukan, North Kalimantan. TNI Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto said the exercise includes 12 modules to test troops' operational readiness, defense diplomacy, and the exchange of capabilities with partner countries. Cyber training was strengthened this year because TNI's cyber unit was formed only about three years ago. TNI also added humanitarian assistance and disaster relief drills for disaster response in North Kalimantan. Along with Indonesia and the United States, participants include Australia, Japan, Britain, France, Germany, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
