Sumatran tiger caught in trap after preying on livestock in Agam
The animal had roamed near a school and mosque before being handed to a conservation facility for veterinary checks.
The West Sumatra Natural Resources Conservation Agency evacuated a Sumatran tiger that preyed on livestock owned by residents in Nagari Pasia Laweh, Palupuh District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The report came in on Monday, 10 August 2026, after two goats owned by residents were attacked; one was found dead in a pen with bite wounds on its neck, while the other was dragged into the bushes. Because the animal was still roaming near homes, schools and public facilities, BKSDA set a box trap on Tuesday, 11 August, at around 18.00 WIB. At about 19.45 WIB, the tiger entered the trap and was then evacuated with local authorities. The animal is now being housed at a conservation facility for medical checks and further handling.
