Student opens fire at Thailand school, 2 dead and 15 hurt
Reuters later reported one teacher was killed and the gunman died by suicide, while Thai authorities had not identified the two dead.
The shooting took place at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai District, Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, on Friday (7/8). Initial Thai PBS reports said two people were killed and 10-15 were wounded. Reuters later reported that at least one teacher was killed, four others were injured, and the suspect, identified as a student, died by suicide. Local police are still investigating the motive for the attack. Photos from the scene showed students being evacuated from the school on the northwest edge of Bangkok, while ambulances and emergency workers treated the victims. The incident again drew attention to Thailand's high rate of gun ownership, estimated at about 10 million firearms, amid a series of recurring shootings in recent years.
