PPP teacher status shifted to central government, civil service test opens in 2027
New: part-time PPP teachers will become full-time, while the 2027 draft budget deficit is kept at 2.4 percent.
The government and the House of Representatives have agreed to shift the employment status of teachers holding PPP contracts to central government employees. The agreement was conveyed by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi after a meeting at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Under the plan, part-time PPP teachers will be elevated to full-time PPP status. Full-time PPP teachers will get the chance to take the civil service selection in 2027. The government is also still matching teacher employment data across different statuses while calculating the impact of the policy. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa said the budget requirement has already been simulated and the 2027 draft budget deficit target will remain at 2.4 percent of GDP, or Rp671.2 trillion.
