Starmer reported to be preparing a resignation timeline, Trump joins speculation
The PM's office has not denied the claim as Labour pressure grows after the Makerfield by-election.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is reported to be preparing a timetable for his resignation, with an announcement possible as early as Monday, amid mounting pressure within the Labour Party. BBC, The Observer and PA Media reports cited by several media outlets said the political mood shifted over the past 48 hours after a series of talks with cabinet ministers, Downing Street advisers, trade unions and party donors. Andy Burnham's landslide win in the Makerfield by-election in Greater Manchester also fueled new calls for Starmer to step aside. US President Donald Trump then amplified the speculation on Truth Social, writing that Starmer would quit, although PA Media said the two have not spoken again since meeting at the G7 summit in France earlier this week.
