Southgate rules out Premier League return after England exit
What's new: The former England coach said he has barely watched football since leaving and has not been to a match since Crystal Palace's FA Cup win.
Gareth Southgate has effectively ruled out a return to Premier League management, saying he cannot see himself taking another top-flight club job after leaving England. Southgate stepped down after England lost to Spain in the Euro 2024 final, ending an almost eight-year spell in charge that also took the team to the Euro 2020 final. The 56-year-old said his relationship with the sport changed near the end of his time with England, when even victories brought little satisfaction. Southgate said he has barely watched football since and has not been to a stadium since seeing Crystal Palace win the FA Cup final. Since leaving the national team role, he has worked in media, made a BBC documentary and spent time as a visiting lecturer at Harvard Business School.
