South Korea seeks role in Indonesia's 100 GWp solar project

Seoul is offering investment, technology, worker training and knowledge transfer for Indonesia's solar project.

South Korea is opening the door for its solar companies to join Indonesia's 100 gigawatt peak solar power project. At the Indonesian Next Generation Journalist Network on Korea forum in Jakarta, Uhm Taeho, Political Section Chief at the South Korea Embassy, said his country hopes the project will not involve only one nation. He said that if Korean companies enter, the scheme would include capital and technology, and facilities built under it would employ Indonesian workers. Uhm also said the cooperation could extend to worker training, as well as knowledge and technology transfer. On the Indonesian side, Vahd Nabyl Achmad Mulachela of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said alternative energy development is part of a cross-administration commitment, while also being tied to the need to cut carbon to preserve market access.
