South Carolina Senate race tied at 48%-48% in late NYT/Siena poll
Why it matters: A Democratic win would help decide Senate control as Republicans pour more than $20 million into the race.
A new New York Times/Siena College poll found South Carolina’s Senate race tied, with Republican Sen. Darline Graham and Democrat Annie Andrews each at 48% among likely voters less than a week before Election Day. The contest has become an unexpected battleground in a state that has not elected a Democrat to the Senate since 1998. Republicans have spent more than $20 million backing Graham after her appointment to finish the term of her brother, the late Sen. Lindsey Graham. Federal Election Commission filings cited by The Hill show Andrews had raised $23.8 million as of Oct. 14, compared with $1.2 million for Graham.
