SMAN 6 student dies after bus runs her over in South Jakarta
PLN confirmed the dangling cable on Jalan Lauser was its line, while police impounded the school bus and are investigating.
A 10th-grade student at SMAN 6 Jakarta, identified by the initials NAP, died after falling from a motorcycle that became entangled in a dangling cable on Jalan Lauser, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Thursday at around 05:30 WIB. In the police report, the victim was riding as a passenger with a relative when the motorcycle handlebar struck a wire cable hanging low. She then fell onto the road and was run over by a school bus passing by. The traffic accident unit of the South Jakarta Police has secured the bus for investigation. Head of the South Jakarta Bina Marga Subagency Rifki Rismal confirmed the cable belonged to PLN and said a team had been deployed to the location to straighten it. Kebayoran Baru district head Rachmat Mulyadi also asked village heads and PPSU workers to tighten monitoring of problematic cables in the area.
