Singapore woman denies link to Faishal scandal, warns of legal action
What's new: Acting minister Zaqy Mohamad backed her account and urged people to stop spreading false claims and harassment.
A Singapore fitness instructor publicly denied being the woman linked to former minister Faishal Ibrahim’s resignation and warned that people spreading the claim could face legal action. Rasidah Caudal said her only contact with Faishal was at two community fitness events, including a Racial Harmony Day program on July 12 at Kampung Ubi Community Centre. Acting Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Zaqy Mohamad said she had been wrongly identified and exposed to abusive comments, adding that no innocent person should face harassment over unfounded speculation. Faishal resigned on July 20 from political office, Parliament and the People’s Action Party over what he called a lapse of judgment in interactions with an unidentified woman.
