Singapore teacher got 14 months for force-feeding toddler until she vomited
What's new: CCTV review after a whistleblower complaint also found rough handling of two other infants at the preschool.
A former infant care teacher in Singapore was sentenced to 14 months in jail after force-feeding a 12-month-old girl milk until the child vomited, then hitting her and pulling her up from a mattress. The 37-year-old woman pleaded guilty to one count of ill-treating a child under the Children and Young Persons Act, with two similar charges involving an 8-month-old boy and a 10-month-old girl taken into consideration. The abuse happened on Sept. 23, 2024, in a preschool nap room. Three days later, an unidentified informant reported suspected child abuse. Staff reviewed CCTV footage, uncovered multiple incidents involving the teacher and another staff member, and fired both. The case was later referred to the Early Childhood Development Agency.
