Singapore September non-oil exports jump 68.4% on AI, ship orders
What's new: Electronics exports climbed 107.6%, while shipments to India fell 5.6% even as most major markets posted gains.
Singapore’s non-oil domestic exports surged 68.4% in September from a year earlier, far above economists’ forecasts and extending August’s revised 46.1% increase, Enterprise Singapore data showed Friday. The jump was driven mainly by non-electronics exports, led by lumpy shipments of ship and boat structures. Electronics exports rose 107.6%, helped by strong AI-related demand for disk media products, integrated circuits and personal computers. Non-electronics exports increased 54.2%. Exports to nine of Singapore’s top 10 markets rose, including Hong Kong, Taiwan and the United States, while shipments to India fell 5.6%. Total merchandise trade expanded 50.8%, with exports up 51.5% and imports up 49.9%.
