Singapore schools delay classes, host watch parties for WC final

What's new: Some campuses will start as late as 10 a.m., while Victoria School plans an overnight event for up to 350 students.

Several Singapore schools are adjusting schedules for the July 19 World Cup final between Spain and defending champion Argentina, which kicks off at 3 a.m. local time on July 20. St Joseph’s Institution and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) will begin classes at 8.30 a.m., Hwa Chong Institution at 9.30 a.m., and Singapore Sports School at 10 a.m. Victoria School is holding an optional overnight watch party for as many as 350 students, with teachers supervising before classes start at the usual 7.30 a.m. Schools said the changes are meant to give students more rest while letting families and classmates share a major sporting event.
