Singapore’s Tharman begins 4-day state visit to Malaysia
What’s next: He is due to meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and business leaders in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor through July 15.
Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam began a four-day state visit to Malaysia on July 12, his first as head of state, in a trip that will include meetings in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor. Invited by King Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar, Tharman is scheduled to receive a state welcome at Istana Negara, meet Sultan Ibrahim and Queen Raja Zarith Sofiah, and attend a state banquet. He is also set to meet Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, hold talks with leaders from the economic and finance sectors, and join a breakfast roundtable with business leaders. In Selangor, he will meet Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Chief Minister Amirudin Shari.
