Singapore revokes 2 Bangladeshis' permits over extremist posts

What's new: ISD said it found no sign either man planned an attack in Singapore, but both were detained after arriving in Dhaka.

Singapore canceled the work permits of two Bangladeshi construction workers and repatriated them after investigators found extremist social media posts, the Internal Security Department said. The men, Tayani Md Risad, 25, and Islam Sahedul, 37, were sent back to Bangladesh on July 8 after separate investigations in July. ISD said Risad backed radical Islamist writer Shafiur Rahman Farabi, while Sahedul posted inflammatory content about the Israel-Iran war and called Muslims who reject Shariah rule infidels. The agency said it found no indication either man intended to carry out an attack or had engaged in terrorism activity in Singapore. Bangladeshi media reported both were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka and remanded for further questioning.
