Singapore police raid 3 massage parlours, arrest 5 women
What's next: Open-concept massage parlours will need licenses later this year after years of exemption from the rules.
Singapore police raided three massage parlours in Boon Lay and Jurong West on June 4, arresting five women ages 36 to 51 over alleged vice offences and opening investigations into three operators. Two of the premises were open-concept massage outlets, which currently do not need licenses but must not have private rooms, partitions or curtains that allow massages out of public view. Officers found curtained areas and private spaces during the operation. The women were arrested for offences under the Women’s Charter 1961, while the operators are being investigated for possible breaches of the Massage Establishments Act 2017.
