Singapore man gets 6 months, 7 days for knife threat over straw
What's new: The judge added seven days because Wu Zhijian committed the offense while on conditional parole.
A Singapore court sentenced 55-year-old Wu Zhijian to six months and seven days in jail after he threatened a convenience store manager with two knives at Block 78 Redhill Lane. The May 1 confrontation began when the manager refused Wu's request for a straw with a canned drink purchase. After leaving the store, Wu returned minutes later carrying two knives, lunged at the manager and threatened to harm him before leaving. Police arrested him at his apartment in the same block later that day. The court also found he breached conditional parole that ran from Feb. 11 to May 9, and cited a criminal record dating to 1992 in imposing the sentence.
