Singapore law minister presses Law Society to release full audit

What's next: lawyers could seek an extraordinary general meeting if redacted reports and annexes are not shared.

Singapore Law Minister Edwin Tong urged the Law Society of Singapore to give members access to the full audit materials that examined workplace culture and governance problems from 2022 to 2025. His call came after a heated closed-door meeting at Maxwell Chambers, where about 200 lawyers pushed for fuller disclosure. Members were given hard copies of an audit summary and recommendations, but several annexes, including investigation reports by a law firm and an external auditor, were not included. Tong said the reports should be released with redactions to protect interviewees so members can assess the findings for themselves. The probe followed an anonymous September 2025 email to the law and manpower ministries. Tong told Parliament earlier this month the audit found significant failings, but no deliberate financial impropriety or intentional cover-up.
