Singapore helper jailed 8 weeks after 94-year-old employer suffered head injury

A Singapore court jailed Indonesian domestic worker Sulastri Wulandari for eight weeks after a struggle over a walking stick left her 94-year-old employer with a head injury. The incident happened on Feb. 21 in a Telok Blangah HDB flat where the two lived alone. Court documents said the man had asked to go out for food, then repeatedly struck her bedroom door with his walking stick after she told him he had already eaten. Sulastri grabbed the stick and tried to pull it away as they grappled for about 20 seconds. The man lost balance, fell backward and hit his head against a wall. He suffered a scalp cut and a left subdural hemorrhage, was taken to Singapore General Hospital and was warded from Feb. 22 to Feb. 25.
