A Singapore court sentenced Then Shing Chong, 58, to five weeks in jail and barred him from driving for 30 months after his Porsche crashed through a barricade and plunged into Suntec City’s Fountain of Wealth. Prosecutors said Then drank about a liter of beer over roughly six hours before leaving a bar around midnight on July 13, 2024. Dashcam footage showed his car remained still for several seconds at a parking gantry before he drove along Temasek Boulevard, failed to follow signs into a roundabout and cut across three lanes into the fountain structure. Three construction workers below escaped injury. Repair costs were put at about S$64,580, and Then later paid S$74,000 in restitution.
