Singapore court jails 73-year-old 13 1/2 years for raping daughter

A Singapore court sentenced a 73-year-old man to 13 1/2 years in jail after he admitted raping and molesting his biological daughter over several years, beginning when she was 10. The man, who cannot be named under a gag order protecting the girl, pleaded guilty to four charges including aggravated statutory rape, aggravated molestation and sexual exploitation of a child, with six more taken into consideration. Prosecutors said the abuse happened between 2021 and 2024 in the family home. In October 2024, the girl told a friend that her father had been assaulting her since 2021 and that she wanted to kill herself. The friend told a teacher, the case was referred to Child Protective Service, and a police report led to the man's arrest the next day.
