A Singapore court issued a warrant of arrest for lawyer and opposition politician Lim Tean after he failed to surrender by noon on Aug. 3 to begin a jail term of three months and one week. Lim had been due to report to the State Courts after winning a deferment from an earlier July 20 surrender date, but his lawyer, Revi Shanker, said Lim did not show up and later became uncontactable. Court records now list an Aug. 17 warrant review instead of a pre-trial conference tied to Lim's outstanding charges. Lim was convicted in 2024 of practising law without a valid certificate after appearing in court and filing documents 32 times in 2021 while uncertified.
