Singapore charged a 23-year-old Myanmar national and permanent resident with two terrorism-financing offenses tied to Gaza, alleging he sent US$72.28 in August 2024 and tried to send another US$1 days later through PayPal to support an attack in Gaza City. Court papers named the PayPal account holders as Bradley Sainsbury and Meredith Pollick. Authorities said Saw Ryan Htoo came under scrutiny after extremist posts online, and investigators concluded he had been radicalized by Islamophobic, anti-Semitic and far-right content. He told the court he would not plead guilty. Prosecutors opposed bail on public-safety grounds, and the court remanded him. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in jail, a fine of up to S$500,000, or both.
