Singapore charges man, 40, over 2 fake bomb threats
What’s next: Koh Jye Shyang was remanded for a week and is due back in court on July 16.
Singapore prosecutors charged Koh Jye Shyang, 40, with two counts of communicating false bomb threats after messages targeted the Home Team Science and Technology Agency and Parliament House. Court documents say Koh sent a FormSG submission to HTX on July 3 claiming a bomb was in its 1 Stars Avenue office, then emailed the Prime Minister’s Office on July 6 alleging a bomb at Parliament House. Police swept both sites and found no suspicious items. Investigators from the Criminal Investigation Department and Central Police Division linked both threats to the same suspect and arrested him on July 7, seizing electronic devices. If convicted, Koh could face up to seven years in prison, a fine of up to S$50,000, or both.
