Singapore charges firm, 6 people over 2025 Tanjong Katong sinkhole

What's new: PUB also received a conditional warning, and the cases are due back in court in July.

Singapore prosecutors charged Ohin Construction and six people tied to its project over the 2025 Tanjong Katong Road South sinkhole that injured a driver when her car dropped into the pit. Court documents allege the builder failed to follow approved structural plans, including by installing 27 jet grout piles with smaller diameters than required and skipping required penetration and strength tests. Prosecutors also cited unauthorized works involving caisson rings, supervisory and licensing failures, and a failure to alert authorities after a road depression appeared before the collapse. The sinkhole opened about 5:50 p.m. on July 26, 2025, beside a PUB worksite near Mountbatten Road. Ohin Construction is under provisional liquidation.
