Singapore Category A car permit price falls S$3,000 to S$126,000

Singapore's latest vehicle permit auction ended mixed, with the Category A certificate for smaller cars and electric vehicles dropping to S$126,000 from a record S$129,000 in the previous exercise. Category B permits for larger and more powerful cars slipped to S$129,890 from S$130,889. Commercial vehicle permits fell to S$93,889, while motorcycle permits inched up to S$10,202. Open-category permits, widely used for bigger cars, rose slightly to S$129,971. The bidding exercise drew 4,455 bids for 3,242 available certificates. In Singapore, a Certificate of Entitlement is required to own and use a vehicle, making permit prices a major cost for car buyers.
