Nadiem's appeal hearing opens at PT DKI, lawyers attack ruling
The appeal memo asks judges to reopen the facts and reassess the trial court's reasoning in the Chromebook case.
The first appeal hearing in the Chromebook procurement case involving Nadiem Anwar Makarim was held at the DKI Jakarta High Court on Wednesday. After submitting the appeal memo, Nadiem's lawyer, Zaid Mushafi, said the defense team is asking the panel of judges to reexamine the facts used in the lower court's ruling. One point they are disputing is the judge's consideration of a power of attorney for managing Nadiem's shares in PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa and PT Gojek Indonesia. In the education digitalization case at Kemendikbudristek, Nadiem was previously sentenced to 10 years in prison. Speaking to reporters, Nadiem said he was optimistic the appeal could overturn the ruling because his team believes the case did not show state losses or elements of corruption.
