Shakhtar nears deal to use Stamford Bridge in Champions League
The larger venue would target London’s Ukrainian community and face little conflict with Chelsea’s schedule.
Shakhtar Donetsk are reportedly closing in on an agreement with Chelsea to use Stamford Bridge as their home ground in the 2026/2027 Champions League. The Ukrainian club has considered several options in west London, including Fulham's Craven Cottage and Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium, but Stamford Bridge is seen as the most attractive because of its larger capacity. The move is also aimed at reaching about 32,000 London residents born in Ukraine. The stadium's availability is helped by Chelsea's absence from European competition after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season. Even so, use of the ground still requires approval from Hammersmith and Fulham Council and UEFA. Shakhtar plan to announce their home venue early next week as the team continues its Champions League qualifying campaign.
